We had an E46 M3 Track car make its way to the shop after losing the majority of its engine oil via a cooler line leak. The engine was pulled immediately as suggested by the knocking bottom end.
Top end looks excellent at 72K miles. The head will be pressure tested and skimmed while it’s off, and an order for all the Beisan VANOS bits has been placed.
Bottom end was unsurprising. Rods 2,3,4, and 6 spun their bearings. Replacement factory rods, a reconditioned crank, and new bearings will be installed.
